In Australia my interpretaion of making you own
spirits goes like this: YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED to make spirits. You
can have a still if you have it less than 5 ltrs in capacity and
use it for things like oils e.g. tea trea oil or flower essences.
In New Zealand,
it is legal to operate a still at home for personal consumption.
This allows our Kiwi friends to make full strength liqueurs &
spirits by running the liquor made above through a home distilling
unit and then adding the flavouring essences.
